About Us

Lakeland Boat Hire is a small family owned and operated leisure service nestled on the mouth of the river Eamont at the head of Lake Ullswater. Situated close by is the village of Pooley Bridge offering car parking and tourist information. There are many large campsites within walking distance as well as first class B&B/self catering facilities. We are open from Easter to late September for the hire of various boats and the sale of refreshments. Our opening hours are 10am – 5pm (low season) and 10am – 7pm (high season). Last hire 1 hr before close. All boats are available on a first come first served basis apart from some fishing boats and sailing boats. Large group bookings are only available by prior arrangement.

Safety is the number one priority at Lakeland Boat Hire. All customers are provided with a buoyancy aid and safety instructions and all boats are fitted with the required safety equipment enabling you to sit back, relax and enjoy the lake.

The staff at Lakeland Boat Hire are trained to a high standard, are uniformed and well mannered helping you to get the most out of your visit. There is a safety craft on standby during opening hours.

Refreshments including hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, sweets and ice cream may be enjoyed whilst sitting by the lake. Every year, more and more people return to enjoy the whole experience of Lakeland Boat Hire and we look forward to seeing you.
